Image editing

You can edit an image from the Unicity image browser to crop or resize an image, or apply a range of image effects.

If you aren't already in the image browser, you can access it at any time by going to the Files and Media menu and selecting Image Management.

You can also edit an image while you are cropping it if you are dropping an image into a fixed size image area.

To edit an image separately, click the Edit Image button when you are viewing the image:

Before you are shown the editor interface, you'll be given the option to select a new size. Unicity will default to keeping the full size image, however you may wish to resize it to a specific size or to a specific width or height which you can select from this list:

Click Edit Image to be taken to the image editor screen.

There are a wide variety of image filters available that you can apply to an image, found on this drop down menu:

If you select a filter from the list the preview will update. Depending on your internet speed this can sometimes take a few seconds.

If you have chosen to resize or crop the image as well, you will need to click and drag the area you want to be cropped to, which you can then modify by clicking the drag handles on the corners:

Click Save New Image to save your changes. This will create a copy of the image, rather than deleting the original file so you can use the original if you wish.

Expand image button

The Expand image button is designed to allow you to add extra space around an image to allow you to crop it to the size you wish. It will generally be used for a logo or a cut out image.

For example, if you want to place a logo into a square image area, it may not fit the proportions:

Clicking the Expand image button will extend the background in every direction allowing you to crop the image as you wish. You can click Expand image as many times as you want if you need to add further background:

As the expand image function extends the background of the image, it will only work well with images that have a single background colour such as a logo or a photo that is cut out of a white background.
