The Unicity interface

Getting to know Unicity CMS is straight forward, with the interface following simple conventions.

The "Unicity Bar"

When you log into Unicity CMS, you'll see a grey bar at the top of the screen. This will stay here whenever you are logged into Unicity.

On the left you can switch between viewing your website and the Unicity CMS interface. Clicking Website will take you back to your website homepage. Clicking Unicity CMS will take you to the Unicity CMS dashboard.

When you are viewing your website you will also see shortcuts such as Edit page, to edit the current page. Other times you will see additional shortcuts such as Edit blog post. Under the More drop down menu you'll find other shortcuts:

Duplicate Page will open the current page in the editor, but when you save changes a copy will be created. This is great if you want to create a similar page without starting from scratch.

Change Template will allow you to swap the template of the page for another within your website. Where there are common editable regions content will be transferred, however if you select a very different template there may not be compatible content. A backup of the page is created under Previous Versions should you need to get content back.

Edit section allows you to edit settings on the section of the site such as the section title, menu positions and default page.

Reorder section allows you to change the order of the menu for the section you are currently in, bringing up a drag and drop interface for setting the order of pages.

On the right hand side of the Unicity Bar is your name. Clicking this will give you the option to Change password or Sign out.

The Unicity CMS Menu

When you are logged into the Unicity CMS admin you'll see a menu down the left hand side of the screen. Click on an icon to see the menu options.

Unicity main menu

Depending on your login permissions, and what optional Unicity modules you have installed you may find different options here. Other main sections include Unicity Mail and Ecommerce.

Take an opportunity to explore the menus to find what options you have installed. Common Unicity CMS functions will normally be found in standard places within the menus as pointed out in this guide, however your developer may have moved or renamed some items.
